Club Med: An All Inclusive Vacation

Club Med is a family-friendly all-inclusive resort where everything from swimming to archery is just steps away.  Once you check in at Club Med all you have to do is decide which restaurant to eat at, what activity to participate in, or where to sunbathe on the massive white sandy beach. The staff is extremely friendly and more than willing to help in any way possible.

When we arrived, we were shown to a comfortable sofa in the lobby and greeted with a refreshing tray of iced tea, cold water and a wet washcloth as we were checked in. We were given some of the highlights of the resort and escorted to our room. Our accommodations were spectacular with a lush view of the lagoon and best of all it was situated close to everything. What a relaxing way to begin our week!

Our first stop was to sample some of the amazing food in the main dining room, The Hacienda. This buffet style restaurant is surrounded by several sections for seating. We decided to eat in the adult-only section and were seated with a gorgeous view. We did make dinner reservations for Las Cazeulas, the Mexican restaurant which overlooks the beach near the water sports area and had a delicious dinner. When the reservations opened up for the next week we were able to get reservations at the steak house, Le Estancia and a second night at Las Cazeulas.  Reservations are required for dinner only at these two restaurants. The food was fantastic with a lot of variety.  You are never at a loss for food as one of the restaurants is always open.

The next morning as we looked over the schedule of activities and decided to wander over and check out the water sports area. We started out in a 2-person kayak and rowed our way around the beautiful turquoise water until the morning session was over. They also offer windsurfing, sailing and diving. After my husband discovered the waterskiing area he was hooked and with the help of the staff he was able to learn how to wakeboard! Also offered are fitness classes in and out of the water, tennis, basketball, archery or flying on a trapeze. If that’s not enough they also have a fitness center or you can simply take a walk along the beach.

Each evening Club Med offers a different show which is followed by dancing in the main bar area. We saw Michael Jackson and a Cirque de Soleil type performance. We enjoyed the evening walks from one end of the village to the other in the warm evening air. It was so relaxing to hear the sound of waves crashing as we walked along the beach.

We did venture out on an excursion to Chichen Itza we purchased from Club Med and enjoyed seeing some of the surrounding area and discovering just a fraction of the Mayan history. Club Med also has a car rental facility onsite if you are looking to explore on your own.

With the amazing location and the ease of the all-inclusive concept, Club Med Cancun was an incredibly relaxing and fun vacation. Can’t wait to visit again!
