Wouldn’t travel be more relaxing if we had less lines to wait in. Good news: TSA pre-check and Global Entry are two options to minimize line time. If you are unsure of the difference between the two, read on.
TSA pre-check is for air travel departing from the US. The cost is $85 per person and it is valid for five years. You are assigned a Known Traveler Number which you add to your reservations. This number allows you to use the Pre-check line which is generally much shorter than regular security. Additionally, you get to keep your shoes on and leave your toiletries and lap-top in your bag.
Global Entry is for entry into the US from International Destinations when travelling by air, land or sea. Global Entry also includes TSA Pre-check. The cost is $100 per person and is valid or five years. With Global Entry, you are granted expedited security clearance upon entering the US from abroad. Instead of waiting in the general customs declaration line, you will head to a designated kiosk to make any declarations and pass through border control.
If you have TSA pre-check or Global Entry, be sure to give us your number when booking travel. For more information about either of these options, please check out: https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/
